Waverly Hills 2021

As I'm sure you've seen on our Facebook page, I was able to make yet another trip to Waverly Hills in Louisville, KY this past weekend.  First, I want to say it was C-O-L-D!! This Florida girl was a bit chilly.  Actually, it wasn't that bad and I survived.

Ok, let's talk about the trip.  It was definitely a blast.  This was my 2nd event at Waverly Hills and my 3rd trip there.  Compared to the 1st event, this one was WAY better.  It was so much more organized, that made my heart happy.  When I checked in, I received a wristband with my assigned group letter on it.  I was then able to walk around the property outside which was amazing to be able to do in the daylight.  It was overcast, but a great opportunity to see it in all it's glory. It truly is a massive building with interesting details.

Early afternoon, the official Q&A started with Nick & Tessa Groff, Dave Schrader and Shane Pittman.  It was a mix of general admission and VIP ticket holders so it was a bit on the crowded side.  As I texted Rob a couple of times, it was people-y. You know, I love making up words. Since I was standing in the back, I couldn't hear a lot of the questions so the answers were just them talking. Even though I didn't follow half of what was going on, it was still quite entertaining.  They really feed off each other.  Once that 90 minutes was up, we had a couple of hours to kill to grab some food before re-grouping after the sun set for the investigation.  Well, the clock in my rental car didn't get changed with the time change so I ended up back to Waverly way early. It was interesting to sit in the parking lot as it gets dark and watching Waverly get darker and darker and darker.  I couldn't wait to get back inside.

Once it was time to meet up again, we broke up into our assigned groups.  Each celebrity would be stationed at an assigned floor and we'd move around in groups to each floor.  This was so smoothly run, I was impressed. The first event I went to, we started in assigned groups but after we got to our starting floor, it turned into a free for all. This time, way better.

My group started on the 1st floor. We started all together with Nick and Tessa while he used this energy producing device that would bring voices through.  I cannot for the life of me remember what it's called but I keep wanting to call it Vortex something or other.  Anyway, it was pretty cool. We split the group in half while the other half went with Nick to the body chute, aka death tunnel while the rest of us kind of wandered around the first floor.  I tended to stick with the guides in our group because I was alone. One of the guides headed to the reception area that there have been reports of a not so nice entity. Will talk about him later.  Heard some shuffling sounds just out of view and when we shined a light, there was nobody there.

After a few minutes, it was my half of my group's turn to head into the death tunnel with Nick.  Walking in, I was following some younger folks as they walked down the tunnel.  My old ass forgot that if I walk down the tunnel, I have to walk back up the tunnel.  That didn't go so well.  Not at all.  I finally get back up to the top (or close to it) and Nick says "let's go dark and just listen." In normal circumstances, I'd be all for it but because I was still trying to catch my break and it's pitch black, the panic set in.  I embarrassingly had to tap out and leave the tunnel.  One of the guide assistants walked me out to the hallway outside of the tunnel so I could catch my break and calm down.  I'm slightly claustrophobic so the not being able to catch my breath and going pitch black was just too much for my anxiety.  Had I been able to catch my breath before going dark, I would have been fine.  Silver lining, as we were standing out in the hallway, a few feet away, we heard what I can only explain as was sounded like a plastic clicking noises.  Once they were done in the tunnel, we met back up with the rest of the group to prepare to move up to the next floor.  As we are standing there, I'm in the back of the group, with my back to a dark hallway and I hear footsteps behind me.  One of the guys standing next to me hears the same thing because we turned around at the same time and both said "did you just hear that?"

Our next stop was the 2nd floor with Shane. Some of us king of started in the atrium where they would have church services as well as family visits.  After a few minutes, that small group kind of broke up and started wandering around.  I wandered down the outside corridor and just stuck close to the group around Shane. I had my moment to shine because I had my Flir and Shane needed one because his shoulder felt hot. Naturally nothing showed up but it was nice to be needed, ha! There was someone in the group that had an Ovilus, which by the way I really want one now.  It kept spitting out "mercury" "ether" "Lois". The room we were standing was said to be Lois' room. Mercury would potentially refer to being brought out to the outside corridor for sun as well as the thermometers used at the time. Ether could refer what was used as anesthesia back when the hospital was open.

Remember that unfriendly spirits I mentioned back on the first floor?  Well, this is when we think he came through and we learned more about him.  We started hearing things from the Ovilus like "demon" "angel" and the like along with "bitch." They have named him Tim.  They believe it's him that is coming through when those words come through because he likes to talk over the other spirits.  He also comes across as though women are inferior and belong in the kitchen type of attitude.  Yup, we all rolled our eyes at that. No one truly knows who he is but an investigator asked if it was ok to call him Tim and there was a constant response of "Tim, Tim, Tim" over and over again so they go with it.

Our next rotation was the 3rd floor with Dave.  We started all together in the hall as we did short, EVP bursts. Dave had his fancy recorder, ask a few questions and then play the recordings back.  On a couple of those recordings, there seemed to be a yell that came through that we didn't hear but sounded like it was right at the microphone. On top of that, there was a Boo Bear that was in the middle of the hallway that would say certain phrases when it's thought a spirit was close-by. Nothing creepy like a sing song voice in the dark saying things like "do you want to play a game?" That is one gadget I will never own.

After a few minutes, a few of us broke off and headed down to the other end of the floor to what I think was the mini OR, or something like that because it was not the main operating room.  We sat down and had a flashlight session with one of the guides (Vince) as he used a spirit box app on his phone.  Got some responses with the flashlight and some interesting answers come through with the app.  I had my GoPro set up, pointed to the flashlight not expecting to get much of anything. If you visit the Facebook page, you will see a video I posted of a sound I captured. Vince asked if they wanted us to leave and because the voice on his app says "uh" there is a sound that comes through that sounds disjointed in some way. I'd love for you to go listen and let me know what you think. The downside of an event at a place like that, you can't account for every noise or every person but I don't remember hearing it and Vince would have called it out so I find it interesting.

Our final rotation was the 4th and 5th floor.  We started up at 5 for a few minutes because there isn't a lot to it.  This is the floor where the nurse allegedly hung herself or was hung, there aren't any real records of this. One thing Vince said that I really liked, that if it wasn't written down, it's not fact. This is also the floor where the play area was for the kids. Nothing really happened up there.  We then moved down to the 4th floor. This is one of the more active floors of shadow figures. I didn't see any but others did.  Also, there was a a situation that happened years ago, that some young men got stuck on the 4th floor.  The particular door they were trying to get out of is VERY easy to open. As you look at the door, you can still see the ax marks that they put there as they were trying to break out of.  A guard went up and easily opened the door from the outside.  I find this interesting because in the later years of Waverly, this floor is said to have locked geriatric patients on this floor.  Again, no written records so it's just a story.  The 4th floor also holds the actual OR which still has one of the original operating lights.  It's also fascinating that the OR has a lot of windows. The reason they have windows is because they used ether for anesthesia which is highly flammable. Both OR's on the 3rd and 4th floor are at the very far end of the floor away from any patient rooms so that if there was ever a situation of it catching fire, it would be contained.

I cannot remember if this happened on the 3rd or 4th floor, but as we started to regroup to move on, a young lady was walking towards us and absolutely had a reaction of someone/something walking in front of her.  She said it was as if a line of electricity passed in front of her.  Her reaction to it was believable and truly think she saw something.  I also miss the visuals.

Overall, it was a great time.  If you ever get the chance to visit Waverly Hills, you absolutely should take it.  They not only have ghost tours, they also offer historic tours that give you the non-ghost stories of the property.  One day, I'll get back up there to take advantage of one of those tours.  Even though this was a paranormal event, our guides were amazing and would weave in those history lessons in which I loved.  It is an amazing property that keeps calling me back.

waverly Hills Trip - 2017

4/22/2017

Late in 2016 I found out that Ideal Events Management would be doing an event at the famous Waverly Hills in Louisville, KY. This location is toward the top of any paranormal enthusiasts bucket list so naturally I was interested. The guest list is what made me decide to go. Well, one person on the guest list, Josh Gates from Travel Channel's "Expedition Unknown." Meeting him was also very high on my bucket list. I became a fan of his when he was on SyFy's "Destination Truth" which started back in 2007. Two bucket list items in one shot, sign me up.

March 2017 finally rolled around and it was time to head to Louisville. It was the weekend of the major Delta meltdown. I am so happy I sucked it up and got a 5 a.m. flight that day because any later, I would have never made it.  One of the speakers got stuck in L.A. so she never made it at all.  Unfortunately I had to make this trip by myself and I won't lie, I was a little nervous to be going to this alone. It worked out because everyone there was super nice. I even made a friend out of it (shout out to Amy!). I'm somewhat of an introvert with the ability to fake being a little outgoing when necessary.

A few days before, it was announced that Josh had to cancel his appearance for the 2nd night of the event weekend due to his renewal of "Expedition Unknown" (yay!!). Thankfully, I had bought the ticket for the first night but they did extend the invite to those with 2nd night tickets to come for the meet and greet so they wouldn't miss him. That made it a little hectic but heck, I still got to meet Josh, get a picture with him and tell him he ruined my chance to get a puppy (not really, Rob was just being mean. He said I picked Josh over getting a puppy..blah, blah, blah). I am happy to announce that Josh is just as funny and nice as he seems on TV. It was awesome to hear the passion he has for his work and so much hilariousness.  Seriously, what I wouldn't give to sit in a bar and day drink with him.

After Gates was done, they had to kind of rush through Steve and Dustin of Ghost Hunters and John Zaffis' talk because of time. Dustin and John had driven from New England to Louisville because of the Delta fiasco the night before. It was apparently a long car ride because they ragged on each other all night. It was great. For them it was mostly a Q&A but it's fun to hear the different types of questions people will come up with.

It was finally time to head to Waverly Hills. I had hoped we would have gotten there while it was still somewhat light out but sadly that was not the case. The place is massive and even in the dark, you can see how impressive it is. This is where it started to get a little chaotic. Steve gave a little background on the site but more from an investigator's point of view.  Even then, I did have to remind myself several times that this was an event and not an investigation throughout the night. We separated into four groups. All this meant was we started on a specific floor with our group.  Then once all groups were at their starting floor, it became a free for all. You didn't have to stay with your group. You could wander the building at your leisure. In some ways that was pretty cool, but in other ways, it was madness. At the beginning, I was able to sit with John Zaffis on the 5th floor while he used an app that is similar to a Spirit Box. I have to look into it more to understand how it works because I did get it but had zero luck with it. While John was using his, it picked up things like "help" and then would answer in numbers when asked how many were there spirit wise.

After this, Amy and I started to check out the different floors and different rooms. It was hard to sit and just listen with so many people all over the place. Just when we thought we found a quiet room to do a quick EVP session, here would come a group of people. I tried to use the app but because I didn't have external speakers, it was worthless because we couldn't hear it.

We made our way down to the body chute which is supposedly one of the most active areas of the site. Our plan was to sit there, in complete darkness and silence in hopes to experience something. Again, with so many people everywhere, there was always a group coming in or going out. Of the 90 minutes or so of us sitting in there, we got maybe 15 minutes of dark and quiet.

During the quiet time we did get in the body chute, we sat on the chute itself about halfway down. Then about halfway between us and the exit, there was a group of 3 girls also wanting to sit in the dark and just take it in. A couple of minutes in, they asked us if we were standing up or moving which we were not. They claim to have seen a figure pacing towards the bottom of the chute which is one of the stories. Neither Amy or I saw this but all 3 of them did. I found that fascinating.  Could it been the angle we were sitting or was it because that was a story of the site, they expected to see it so they saw it?

By then, we were about done so we headed back up to take some photos and cross our fingers to find a quiet space to try an EVP session again. The EVP session never really happened though we tried a few times. I haven't even gone through the recordings yet because with all the noise around us, I'm not confident there's anything there. I'll have to save the 'reveal' for another post.

As we headed out, we ran into one of the employees of Waverly and she was talking to another group about the history. This is something I wish we had heard prior to going in. She said when they give their tours or do their overnight investigations, it starts with a tour of the property along with the history. It is a starting point and a guide to what you want to do for the night. I wish we had been with her all night.

Overall it was a great weekend. The paranormal enthusiast in me was disappointed because I didn't experience anything personally. Like I said before, I had to remind myself all night it was an event and not an investigation. A lot of folks were there for the celebrities and the idea of going to Waverly. They didn't care for catching anything. I am hoping that next year, we can snag one of the coveted private overnight events and have the run of the place. That would be a pretty cool vacation.

I hope I didn't bore you guys with the rambling. I will try to be a little more active this year even though there isn't a trip on the horizon. Maybe I'll play with the Echovox app and see what I can come up with around here. Maybe.

Happy Thursday everyone!  We don't really have much of an update other than to check in and say hi to all of wonderful followers.  I do know that I am super happy to see the sun again.  It has been raining like crazy the last week or so.  Definitely overdue for a beach trip so that's what we will be doing this weekend.  Happy Mother's Day to me!  :)

I've been looking around for potential sites for an investigation.  I know with everything the last couple of weeks here at the house, we'll be doing a 'practice' one right here soon.    Other than that, please let us know if you have any suggestions.  It does not have to be in the immediate area either.  We will be travelling soon for our belated honeymoon to North Carolina.  I may have to see if there are any ghost tours up there to hit one night.  We will be staying in Maggie Valley so any suggestions of inexpensive things to do while there, please share!  The big one that we WILL be going to is the Biltmore Mansion.  You can't go up there without a visit to that place.

I'm going to stop rambling now and get to work on my chores for the day.  Have I mentioned I hate laundry?  I do.  I really, really do.  Have a great day everyone!!

Weekly Update of Goings Ons

A day later than planned but that’s ok, right?  We at least have an excuse, it was Rob’s birthday yesterday so we started the day by sitting at the DMV/Tag Agency to renew someone’s driver’s license and license plate.  That place is always interesting.  The people watching and conversations are hilarious.  Actually the day started off with what could have been a paranormal experience.  I touched briefly on it on Facebook yesterday but I wanted to share a little more what we’ve seen and heard since moving into the house.

We moved into the house a few years ago and nothing seemed to happen right away.  I am probably the first to experience anything and it happened one morning.  Rob used to work the night shift so he was never home in the mornings before I left for work.  It was one of those mornings that I kept hitting the snooze alarm (I had no desire to get up apparently…lol) then I heard clear as day someone clearing their throat.  As Rob said yesterday, maybe they were tired of my alarm going off.  It definitely came from our bedroom as we sleep with the door closed.  I really expected to open my eyes and see Rob standing there.  It was that loud and clear and close sounding.  I got up at that point.  I wasn’t scared, just startled since I wasn’t expecting it.  I even went out into the living room and our kids weren’t out of bed yet either.  I verbally said thank you and went about my day never thinking twice about.

Every once in a while since then, our youngest seems to hear most of what goes on.  He’s told us he hears footsteps in his room.  One night he did call me in asking if I was in there.  Thankfully he’s never been too freaked out about it.  He has been home alone and called me in the middle of the day to tell me he hears walking behind him while he’s sitting on the couch.  He said neither dog reacted negatively to this.  He said they were both lying next to him so it wasn’t them walking around.  Our youngest dog doesn’t like going into his room though.  It takes some coaching to get her to go in and even then, she doesn’t stay long.  She also likes to start growling and barking for what seems to be no reason.  With this she could be seeing something outside, who knows.

Our oldest son has had maybe a couple of experiences but the most prominent one was a year or so ago.  He has an older television set in his room and on the top he has a few things sitting on it.  Particularly an empty Monster can.  I don’t know why, it’s there.  I gave up trying to figure out teenagers.  This can has been sitting up there forever so that’s why this was a little surprising.  He was sitting in his room one day and the thing fell off.  I asked him if he had the fan blowing or if he thought it was the a/c kicking on but he doesn’t think so.  It’s interesting because the a/c vent and fan would actually blow the can towards the wall and back of the tv but the can actually fell forward.  He has since put it back on the tv and it hasn’t moved since.

We keep batting around the idea of doing an investigation in the house.  We just need to get the kids out and figure out how to keep the dogs quiet enough to do some EVP sessions.  We may do that soon.  It would be great practice plus a chance to really test all of the equipment.  I’m pretty sure I just convinced myself that it’s a fantastic idea.  J

That’s all I have today.  I hope everyone has a great weekend.  As usual, if you have any suggestions of blogs you want to see or any investigation spots, please let us know.  Happy Friday!

I promise, the picture to the left will make sense in just a few sentences   :)  We don't really have a lot to update this week.  We have just been busy scouring around looking for potential investigation sites.  Going to be sending out a couple more letters of interest later this week.  So of course this causes me to beg...don't forget to pass on your ideas.  They do not necessarily have to be in Orlando.  We are more than happy to take a weekend trip if need be.

This weekend we were honored to participate in a golf tournament for the Wounded Warrior Project.  Our group of friends were asked to bring our awesome party skills to the 7th hole of the course.  I really don't know who had more fun, us or those who participated in the tournament itself.  It really was a great experience.  I am batting around the idea of participating in the 8K later this year in Jacksonville.  It's a great organization and we love what their mission is.  If you want to help or see local events, please visit www.woundedwarriorproject.org.  Now you know what the picture was all about.  :)

That's all I have for today.  Keep checking back later this week for an update.  The goal is to update the blog every Thursday so I'll be brainstorming all week.  If you can think of anything you'd like to see in one of the updates, please comment below or let us know via Facebook or Twitter.  Stay dry my Orlando friends!

Part Two

I promise I won't make this list quite as long but I still feel these 'rules' are very important.

DON'T:  This may be a harsh one to start with but I'm going to do it anyway.  Don't whisper ESPECIALLY during an EVP session.  When communicating, you should use your regular speaking voice.  If you whisper, it could come across as muffled on the recording device and be mistaken for something else.  It's easy to want to whisper when you're sitting in the dark but try to get past that.  I think one of the funniest things I remember when I was with my previous group was when we were reviewing an EVP session and one of the members whispered something.  The other team member said "no whispering" to which she whispered "sorry."  It was laughable but the plus side is they acknowledged it was them whispering so there was no mistake in that instance.  Just don't whisper.

DO:  Tie back long hair.  I have ridiculously curly hair so I can only imagine what a loose strand would look like in a photograph.  My suggestion is either put on a baseball hat or invest in some fun hair ties or headbands.  Just keep that hair back.

DON'T:  I'm not a fan of provoking so I say don't dare a spirit to show itself.  You can ask it to, but don't 'demand' it.  Saying things like "come at me" or "what, are you scared?" is just asking for trouble.

DO:  Keep communication handy.  This includes cell phones (on silent of course because even the vibration setting will emit a noise) and walkie talkies.  You want to be able to get in touch with the command center or other teammates if the need arises.  Command center will need communication to announce rotations and wrap up.

DON'T:  When heading to an investigation, don't spray on that fancy perfume or body spray.  Even if others on your team know you have it on, teams after you could mistake it for evidence after you've left the room.  Just keep it simple and use deodorant only.  Please, for the sake of those around you, don't forget the deodorant.

DO: HAVE FUN!  I can't stress this one enough.  Yes there are rules to follow and yes I said no horseplay but still have fun.  This is a hobby and while you want to get the information and evidence, you have to remember this should be a fun hobby to have.  Having fun and creating a positive environment could entice the spirits to come around.  Who wants to hang around a negative Nelly all night?  I know I don't.

Well guys, this is just an idea of what I think basic rules should be.  The list really could probably go on and on and on but I don't want to bore you to tears.  Too late?  Darn it.  :P  Thank you for hanging in there.  As always, please let us know of any investigation ideas in the Central Florida area (doesn't have to be strictly Orlando) and let us know of anything you'd like to see blogged.  The more information out there, the better this field will be.  Also, any groups looking for a joint investigation, we are open to that as well.  We would love to meet new people in the field.

I hope everyone has a great Thursday evening and remember, the weekend is just right around the corner.  :)

Do's & Don'ts - Part 1

4/6/2013

One of the suggestions we received for a blog posting was a Do's and Don'ts of an investigation.  We thought this was a great way to start so here we go.

First off, let me say these are just our opinions of simple rules for investigating.  I feel a lot of these should be common sense and not anything new.

DO:  Always be safe.  Never put yourself or any member of the team in danger.  If for whatever reason you feel uncomfortable or in any kind of dangerous situation, fall back and regroup.

DON'T:  Never scream, yell or run away if startled.  Instead, calmly tell your group that you need to go back to the command center to collect yourself.  If you don't want to admit you are scared (Rob would NEVER admit it though I'd know, oh yes, I'd know), just make an excuse to get back, saying you need to upload pictures, listen to an EVP or get new batteries.  Anything but run.

DO:  Stay with your group.  Always.  Even if you think you see or hear something away from your assigned team, make sure they come with you.  Anything you experience could be discounted if you are alone.  This goes with needing to go back to the command center to check those pictures (see above), get the team to go with you.

DON'T:  When doing an investigation, there is no smoking, drinking alcohol or any mind altering substances.  Smoke from cigarettes could be mistaken for some form of manifestation.  I don't think I need to expand on the drinking and drugs part, do I?  I didn't think so.

DO:  Make sure to check all equipment before the investigation.  This includes making sure batteries are charged the day before, fresh batteries for the non-chargeable equipment, lenses are cleaned and you have everything packed up.  There would be nothing worse than getting to the site and you find you are missing that pesky voice recorder.  A checklist would be a great way to get ready for an investigation.

DON'T:  There should be no horseplay during an investigation.  I'm not saying don't have fun, but know the time and place.  Respect should be given to the site, the client and any potential spirits still inhabiting the area.    Extra respect should be given in locations such as cemeteries, battlefields, hospitals, etc.

DO:  Respect your team members, clients and their ideas and theories.  Even if you don't agree, listen to what they have to say.  You never know, their theory could be right.

DON'T:  This is a no brainer, don't lie.  This includes not exaggerating what you experienced.  Keep to the facts and nothing more.

DO:  Log, log, and log some more.  Keep notes of things that happen.  This includes coughs, sneezes and throat clearing so later during the review, there is no second guessing that noise in the distance.  A good idea is to be sure to have a watch so you can record the time for the log for these occurrences.

I think we'll stop with a "DO" for now.  Stay tuned for a part 2 in a couple of days.  Like I said earlier, these are our opinions of what 'rules' should be for an investigation.  OTP, as do most other groups, have a protocol list that is handed out to members to follow.  The protocol are basic, easy to follow and common sense rules.

So with what we have above, what are your thoughts on these?  This isn't the complete list (you know, I did mention there is a Part 2 coming soon) but anything you think should be added, please comment below.

Have a great evening!!

Blog hijacked!

Hey, everyone!  I'm Rob, co-founder and equipment specialist from OTP.   Jamie left me in charge of some aspects of web design so I decided to hijack the blog and write a little something.

Jamie and I are going to try and update the blog and the site more often to bring fresh new looks into OTP.  We are also working diligently to find areas to investigate and share with other investigators.  Our goal is to network with other investigation teams (local or otherwise) to share information, investigation techniques and points of view of paranormal activity.  I'm excited to see new visits to our site so that we can collaborate with more experienced investigation teams and help new teams start up to get into the field.  The paranormal field is fun, exciting, and rewarding.  It can be a little scary at first, but as long as precautions are taken and there are set ground rules for investigations, everyone involved should be perfectly safe.

We are going to be blogging about equipment, its uses and what is needed for a successful investigation.  We will also talk about our opinion of the "do's and don'ts" list of investigations.  There are a ton of things we want to talk about and we have several opinions on paranormal activity and investigations that we will be sharing in the days and week to come.  I hope you all will share in our blog and hit us up on our Facebook or go to the contact us section of our webpage and drop us a line.

Jame will be doing most of the blogging but I'll be right behind her telling her what to write and then she can ignore it.  So, from time to time, I'll try to hijack the blog and write whatever I want!  See you all soon!  Good hunting!

Good Lesson Learned

12/2/2012

What a great lesson we learned a couple of weeks ago thanks to Halloween.  :)

It's very easy to let your imagination go a little crazy when it comes to ghost hunting and the paranormal.  You have to know when to keep it in check.  I have noticed that if an individual claims a place is haunted, everything that happens is pretty much deemed to be paranormal.  Why?  The idea has already been planted the location is haunted.  As investigators, you have to learn when to turn off that part of your brain.  You still need to go into a place ready to disprove any experience.  Only until you've run out of ways to disprove an activity can it be considered paranormal.  At least that is my opinion.

So onto the lesson we learned and the story behind that picture.  A friend of mine has been recently telling me about experiences in his house.  He's also told me about the area he is living in currently which is said to have activity in different places around his town.  A few days after Halloween, he sends me the picture on the left.  All he said was "This is my house taken from across the street.  Look in the upstairs window."  Immediately I got chills and then the brain took off.  I told myself things like, he's heard footsteps, this is an active area and this picture looks like a sailor in a work uniform (or as a friend of his said, Michael Myers).  Then I thought we really need to get up there and check out his house.  After about 15 minutes, he sent me the picture on the right.  It was simply his son's Halloween costume hung up to dry.  I called him a few choice words (HAHA) and then thought, this is a great learning opportunity not only for the group but for others as well.

As an investigator, you really need to be able to throw out the stories and background you've heard.  I'm not saying disregard them completely, but while on the actual investigation and evidence review, you need to have an open mind ready to come with non-paranormal answers.  Having the stories and background will help a lot when doing research so it's really important to gather as much as possible.  It can be used during the investigation as well (i.e. names of former owners); however, you shouldn't rely only on that.

I hope everyone was able to take something from this.  Have a great day!

Seems like time has slipped away again from us so it's time to get back on track.  I hope everyone is enjoying their fall weather here in Central Florida.  We are finally seeing that 'nip' in the air but nothing like our northern neighbors.

With it being the Halloween season lately, I couldn't help but catch some of the haunted shows on TV.  I have also started getting into a show that I've seen bits and pieces about thanks to Netflix.  I could be a little over critical on the paranormal groups on this show so I thought I'd throw a question out to you on here.

Almost every group so far on this show have claimed to use a "scientific approach" to investigate these locations.  My first impression of these groups is that they are no more educated than I am.  By that, I mean they have caught the popular shows on television and just using those techniques.  There is nothing wrong with that, but my question is that unless you have formal education, can you really claim it's a "scientific approach" during the investigation?  I would love to hear everyone's input on this.

In the meantime, I hope all of my Florida peeps are enjoying our fall like weather.  As always, please send any ideas or suggestions to us.  Let's rock and roll!

Jamie
