Slacking Big Time :)

I really have no excuse of not posting anything since the middle of last year. None at all so I'm not going to try and make one up. Instead, I will promise that I will come up with some comeback post in the next few days. I just need to figure out exactly what I should write about. So until then, I will do my normal begging of suggestions either for an investigation (yes we still want to do them) or for a topic you'd like to see.

Jamers out.

Almost Time....

Almost time for our vacation/belated honeymoon.  I cannot begin to tell you how much we are looking forward to hitting the road at the end of the week.  For once, I am hoping for a busy week so the time flies by.  My luck it'll be busy and time will drag on and on and on and on...

Our big plan is to visit the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC and tubing in Dyson City.  Other than that, there is nothing on the agenda and I like that idea.  We will play the rest of the trip by ear since I have a hard time just sitting around but maybe I'll get over that.  Haha  I think the closest to 'ghost' anything will be Ghost Town in the Sky which sounds ridiculously cheesy and completely up our alley.

Since this week will be lots of laundry (we all know how much I love that) and packing, I don't think we'll be able to blog before we go.  You never know though, I could get stuff done early.  Yeah, I laughed at that too.  :P  Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter because we will check in from time to time while we're gone.  We have to make people jealous on our trip, right?

As always, I hope you all have wonderful week and we'll be back soon!

P.S. Ideas, we need them.

Happy Sunday everyone!  I hope you are enjoying your weekend as much as we have been.

On a whim last night, I stuck some of our business cards (which reminds me I REALLY need to get updated ones) at a place my friends and I hang out quite a bit.  I wanted to see if anyone would take them.  I only put about 4 or 5 out since that's all I had with me.  Within an hour, there was only 1 left.  I was stoked.  This morning I logged on to the admin part of our site and saw we had a spike in visitors since last night.  Very exciting.  I really hope that means we are getting the word out and people start reaching out to us.  So with that, I have to ask, what are some other ways to 'market' the group?  I am thinking that we'll just put the cards in random places since this seemed to work so well.

My goal this week is to do a little research on how to communicate more with spirits.  I had heard at one point that candles are a great tool.  So as an experiment this week, I am going to light candles as often as possible to see if something else happens.  What are some other household items that can be used for communication?  When investigating a site that has possible children spirits, any type of toy could be useful.  I would personally lean toward a ball this way you can interact by rolling it and a doll since little girls love doll babies.  I would love to hear what other ideas you guys have.

I can't wait to hear what you come up with to my questions.  Keep your eyes open for possible investigations and let us know.  Find  and follow us on Facebook and Twitter and tell your friends. As always, I hope everyone has a great week!

Happy Thursday everyone!  We don't really have much of an update other than to check in and say hi to all of wonderful followers.  I do know that I am super happy to see the sun again.  It has been raining like crazy the last week or so.  Definitely overdue for a beach trip so that's what we will be doing this weekend.  Happy Mother's Day to me!  :)

I've been looking around for potential sites for an investigation.  I know with everything the last couple of weeks here at the house, we'll be doing a 'practice' one right here soon.    Other than that, please let us know if you have any suggestions.  It does not have to be in the immediate area either.  We will be travelling soon for our belated honeymoon to North Carolina.  I may have to see if there are any ghost tours up there to hit one night.  We will be staying in Maggie Valley so any suggestions of inexpensive things to do while there, please share!  The big one that we WILL be going to is the Biltmore Mansion.  You can't go up there without a visit to that place.

I'm going to stop rambling now and get to work on my chores for the day.  Have I mentioned I hate laundry?  I do.  I really, really do.  Have a great day everyone!!

A Little of Everything

I promise, the picture to the left will make sense in just a few sentences   :)  We don't really have a lot to update this week.  We have just been busy scouring around looking for potential investigation sites.  Going to be sending out a couple more letters of interest later this week.  So of course this causes me to beg...don't forget to pass on your ideas.  They do not necessarily have to be in Orlando.  We are more than happy to take a weekend trip if need be.

This weekend we were honored to participate in a golf tournament for the Wounded Warrior Project.  Our group of friends were asked to bring our awesome party skills to the 7th hole of the course.  I really don't know who had more fun, us or those who participated in the tournament itself.  It really was a great experience.  I am batting around the idea of participating in the 8K later this year in Jacksonville.  It's a great organization and we love what their mission is.  If you want to help or see local events, please visit www.woundedwarriorproject.org.  Now you know what the picture was all about.  :)

That's all I have for today.  Keep checking back later this week for an update.  The goal is to update the blog every Thursday so I'll be brainstorming all week.  If you can think of anything you'd like to see in one of the updates, please comment below or let us know via Facebook or Twitter.  Stay dry my Orlando friends!

I promise I won't make this list quite as long but I still feel these 'rules' are very important.

DON'T:  This may be a harsh one to start with but I'm going to do it anyway.  Don't whisper ESPECIALLY during an EVP session.  When communicating, you should use your regular speaking voice.  If you whisper, it could come across as muffled on the recording device and be mistaken for something else.  It's easy to want to whisper when you're sitting in the dark but try to get past that.  I think one of the funniest things I remember when I was with my previous group was when we were reviewing an EVP session and one of the members whispered something.  The other team member said "no whispering" to which she whispered "sorry."  It was laughable but the plus side is they acknowledged it was them whispering so there was no mistake in that instance.  Just don't whisper.

DO:  Tie back long hair.  I have ridiculously curly hair so I can only imagine what a loose strand would look like in a photograph.  My suggestion is either put on a baseball hat or invest in some fun hair ties or headbands.  Just keep that hair back.

DON'T:  I'm not a fan of provoking so I say don't dare a spirit to show itself.  You can ask it to, but don't 'demand' it.  Saying things like "come at me" or "what, are you scared?" is just asking for trouble.

DO:  Keep communication handy.  This includes cell phones (on silent of course because even the vibration setting will emit a noise) and walkie talkies.  You want to be able to get in touch with the command center or other teammates if the need arises.  Command center will need communication to announce rotations and wrap up.

DON'T:  When heading to an investigation, don't spray on that fancy perfume or body spray.  Even if others on your team know you have it on, teams after you could mistake it for evidence after you've left the room.  Just keep it simple and use deodorant only.  Please, for the sake of those around you, don't forget the deodorant.

DO: HAVE FUN!  I can't stress this one enough.  Yes there are rules to follow and yes I said no horseplay but still have fun.  This is a hobby and while you want to get the information and evidence, you have to remember this should be a fun hobby to have.  Having fun and creating a positive environment could entice the spirits to come around.  Who wants to hang around a negative Nelly all night?  I know I don't.

Well guys, this is just an idea of what I think basic rules should be.  The list really could probably go on and on and on but I don't want to bore you to tears.  Too late?  Darn it.  :P  Thank you for hanging in there.  As always, please let us know of any investigation ideas in the Central Florida area (doesn't have to be strictly Orlando) and let us know of anything you'd like to see blogged.  The more information out there, the better this field will be.  Also, any groups looking for a joint investigation, we are open to that as well.  We would love to meet new people in the field.

I hope everyone has a great Thursday evening and remember, the weekend is just right around the corner.  :)

Blog hijacked!

Hey, everyone!  I'm Rob, co-founder and equipment specialist from OTP.   Jamie left me in charge of some aspects of web design so I decided to hijack the blog and write a little something.

Jamie and I are going to try and update the blog and the site more often to bring fresh new looks into OTP.  We are also working diligently to find areas to investigate and share with other investigators.  Our goal is to network with other investigation teams (local or otherwise) to share information, investigation techniques and points of view of paranormal activity.  I'm excited to see new visits to our site so that we can collaborate with more experienced investigation teams and help new teams start up to get into the field.  The paranormal field is fun, exciting, and rewarding.  It can be a little scary at first, but as long as precautions are taken and there are set ground rules for investigations, everyone involved should be perfectly safe.

We are going to be blogging about equipment, its uses and what is needed for a successful investigation.  We will also talk about our opinion of the "do's and don'ts" list of investigations.  There are a ton of things we want to talk about and we have several opinions on paranormal activity and investigations that we will be sharing in the days and week to come.  I hope you all will share in our blog and hit us up on our Facebook or go to the contact us section of our webpage and drop us a line.

Jame will be doing most of the blogging but I'll be right behind her telling her what to write and then she can ignore it.  So, from time to time, I'll try to hijack the blog and write whatever I want!  See you all soon!  Good hunting!

On the agenda tonight is designing our business cards.  I definitely want to use something that isn't a clip art available on the site we're using.  Especially since I saw our original business card design being used by a couple of other local groups.  I need ours to stand out.  I started to play around with it a little this morning before work so I have an idea of what I want.  Now it's just making that final decision.  So many fonts to choose from!  Haha

I've got fingers and toes crossed that our letters we sent out will yield some phone calls.  If not, it looks like follow-up calls will be in order.

In the meantime, I think we are in need of someone who can really research a location.  Rob & I have the basics of research down, but the nitty gritty, I think we definitely need help with it.  If you know of anybody who would be interested, please send them our way.  Even if you aren't interested in the investigation part of it, we can always use a behind the scenes type person (or people).

Thank you everyone for your interest in following and I hope to have news soon on our letters!

Have a great rest of the week if I don't pop on here sooner!!

Jamie

Finally getting that letter of interest finalized and ready for personalization.  Now we just need some ideas of where to send it.  Going to start researching local places this week and get this moving.  We are ready to jump in and get cracking.  We have a good bunch of equipment ready to go.  Next up will be to buy the memory sticks and cassettes for the cameras.  Amazon will be our BFF again before long.  :)

Back to begging, if you know of any place in the Central Florida area that needs to be looked into, please let us know.  The more places we have, the better chance of landing an investigation.  Even if it's a personal home, public area or office, we are down.  We'll be back soon with more updates since I am now ready to update REGULARLY on here.  Happy Sunday everyone!
